1. Your agreement with Journologue

These Terms of Use apply to the Journologue app, its cloud features, and journologue.com (the Service). The Service is operated by Void Deck Technologies LLP, Singapore (Journologue, we, us or our).

Questions, complaints and support requests can be sent to support@journologue.com.

When these Terms are clearly presented and you deliberately continue with account creation or another action identified as accepting them, you agree to them. Merely visiting the website does not create a paid subscription. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the affected Service.

Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. Agreeing to these Terms is not blanket consent to unrelated data processing, and does not remove any separate permission required for a feature.

Some features, sign-in methods, plans and platforms may not be available in every country or on every device. Specific terms clearly shown for an offer apply to that offer. Mandatory rights and protections in section 15 always take priority.

2. Age and eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old and legally permitted to use the Service. Any higher age requirement under the law where you live also applies. We do not verify users' ages or offer a parental-consent process. If you cannot lawfully use a feature without that process, do not use it.

If you are not yet legally an adult, your parent or legal guardian must review these Terms with you and authorise your use to the extent local law requires. A parent or guardian who enters this agreement for a young person must have the authority to do so. These Terms do not make a minor responsible for obligations that cannot lawfully bind them.

Use the Service only where permitted by applicable laws and sanctions or export restrictions. Do not misrepresent your age, identity or eligibility.

3. Accounts, sign-in and security

Provide accurate account information and keep access to your chosen email or sign-in provider secure. A username or Support ID helps identify an account but does not prove ownership. You are responsible for activity you authorise and for taking reasonable care of your devices and credentials; this does not make you liable for security failures attributable to us.

Do not share or sell account access, impersonate another person, or use someone else's sign-in credentials. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. We may require appropriate authentication before restoring access, changing sensitive account details, exporting information or deleting an account.

Signing out, losing a device, deleting local files or uninstalling the app can make unsaved drafts inaccessible. A cloud account does not mean every local draft has been uploaded. Only content successfully saved to your cloud account can be retrieved from it on another device.

We cannot promise recovery if information or necessary access material has been lost, removed or irreversibly deleted. Support will not bypass ownership checks. Creating another account does not automatically transfer journals, entitlements or purchases.

4. What the Service does and does not do

Journologue is a personal journaling tool for recording or writing entries, reviewing transcripts, attaching selected media and details, and revisiting retained journals. Features depend on your plan and supported device.

The Service is not medical, psychological, legal, financial or other professional advice. It is not a diagnostic tool, treatment, clinical record system, crisis line, evidence-preservation system or emergency service. Do not use it for decisions where inaccurate, incomplete or unavailable information could cause injury or other serious harm.

We do not routinely monitor journals for distress, danger or emergencies and do not undertake to contact emergency services. If you or another person may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate professional directly.

Use recording and playback safely. Do not interact with the app while driving or in another situation where distraction may create danger. Do not rely on the Service to prevent harm.

5. Recording and transcription

Microsoft provides cloud transcription for Journologue. Subject to any required permission, finishing a recording can start transcription automatically, including before you create an account or save the journal. The Privacy Policy explains how recordings are handled.

Transcription can omit, mishear, add or misattribute words. Accuracy can vary with language, accent, noise, recording quality and provider performance. Review the transcript, especially names, numbers and sensitive details. A transcript is not a certified or guaranteed verbatim record and does not establish that an event occurred.

Processing may be delayed, interrupted, limited or unavailable. Recording audio does not guarantee successful transcription or cloud storage. We do not guarantee a particular turnaround time or uninterrupted availability.

Recording time and transcription limits apply. A recording can stop at its displayed limit. Monitor the remaining time and keep an independent record of anything essential. Editing a transcript does not change the original audio.

You must have the right to record and process every voice or other material you submit, and obtain any consent required from other people. Do not use Journologue for unlawful surveillance or covert recording.

6. Your content and our limited permission

You retain the rights you have in your journal text, recordings, photographs and other material. These Terms do not transfer ownership of your journals to Journologue.

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide permission to host, copy, transmit, process, transcribe, resize, format, index and display your content only as reasonably necessary to provide the features you request, maintain and secure the Service, fulfil your instructions, and meet applicable legal obligations. We may use service providers for those purposes under appropriate restrictions.

This permission does not authorise selling journal content, publishing it to a public feed, using it in advertising, or training our own general-purpose AI models. Any materially different use needs a separate lawful basis and, where required, your permission.

The permission ends when the relevant content is removed from our systems, except as needed for restricted recovery copies, legal recordkeeping, security or dispute-related retention explained in the Privacy Policy. It does not let us continue using a deleted journal as an active personal library.

You are responsible for having the necessary rights to submitted content. Do not submit material that unlawfully infringes another person's privacy, confidentiality, copyright or other rights. If you report an infringement, provide enough information for us to investigate without unnecessarily including private journal contents.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to commit or facilitate unlawful activity, exploit children, threaten others, distribute malicious code, access another person's information, or interfere with the Service or its users.

Do not bypass account security, payment or usage limits; create accounts to evade restrictions; collect information from private systems without permission; disrupt the Service; conduct unauthorised security testing; or resell or automate the Service in a way not expressly supported.

Do not reverse engineer or circumvent technical protections except where applicable law gives you a right that cannot be restricted. Open-source components remain subject to their own licences.

Private expression of sadness, anger or difficult experiences is not itself a breach of these Terms. Restrictions concern unlawful or harmful use of the Service, not an obligation to write positively.

8. Storage, limits and availability

Your plan sets the available storage, recording time and transcription allowance. Journologue supports one journal per calendar day, with recordings of up to 15 minutes. The applicable allowances and any additional limits are shown in the app or the offer you choose.

Storage is shared across relevant retained text and media, not an additional allowance for each file type. Photos may be resized or compressed; the stored version need not preserve the resolution or metadata of your camera original. Keep your source images if that matters to you.

Features need compatible hardware, software, sufficient device space and, for cloud operations, an internet connection. Network and mobile-data charges are your responsibility. Device or provider restrictions can pause background work, uploads or downloads.

We may apply reasonable rate limits, security controls, maintenance or temporary restrictions to protect the Service. We may make changes for safety, reliability, technical or legal reasons. Material reductions to paid benefits will be handled with appropriate notice and any cancellation or refund rights required by law, rather than treating a general change clause as permission to remove a paid service without remedy.

We do not promise unlimited storage, lifetime hosting, uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every device, or that a proposed feature will be delivered.

9. The 14-day trial

Where offered, the Journologue trial lasts 14 consecutive 24-hour periods. It starts when your first journal is successfully saved to your cloud account, not merely when you create an account, open the app or transcribe a recording.

No payment is required for this trial and it does not automatically convert into a paid subscription. Subscribing requires a separate, deliberate purchase through the available purchase flow.

When the trial ends, you need an active subscription to continue saving new journals or using paid cloud features. You can still access and download retained journals, subject to account security and the retention and availability limits in these Terms. A backdated journal does not extend the trial, and reinstalling or signing in again does not restart it.

An account created without a first confirmed save has not started its trial. After full account deletion is completed, you can sign up again with the same sign-in details and receive a fresh trial on your first saved journal. Restoring a pending-deletion account, or removal of cloud content after a subscription or trial ends, does not restart its trial.

10. Subscriptions, cancellation and refunds

A paid subscription requires a separate purchase that you confirm through Apple. Creating an account, starting the free trial or reading these Terms does not authorise a charge.

The purchase screen and Apple's confirmation show the plan, local price, billing period, taxes where applicable, renewal terms and any promotional conditions. They control the purchase you actually choose.

An App Store subscription normally renews automatically unless cancelled through Apple before the applicable renewal cutoff. Manage or cancel it in your Apple account's subscription settings. Deleting Journologue, logging out or deleting your Journologue account does not cancel an App Store subscription.

Turning off renewal normally leaves access available until the end of the paid period. A refund, revocation, failed renewal or the end of an applicable billing grace period may change access according to Apple's verified purchase status.

If you subscribe during a trial, the paid term and charge begin as shown by Apple at purchase. Do not assume unused trial days will be added to a paid period unless the offer explicitly says so. A paid entitlement does not reset the original free-trial clock.

App Store charges and refund requests are handled through Apple, including at reportaproblem.apple.com, subject to Apple's process and your mandatory rights. We do not promise every refund will be approved, and we do not exclude refunds, cancellation rights or remedies required by law.

To restore a subscription, use the appropriate Apple and Journologue accounts and complete any required ownership check. A purchase does not recover content already deleted. We will explain a material price change and obtain approval where required through the applicable store process.

11. Saving, exports and data loss

A journal is saved to your cloud account only when the app confirms that the save has completed. A local draft or completed transcript is not the same as a saved journal. If a save fails or remains pending, keep the app and original files available while you retry or seek support.

Cloud storage is not a substitute for keeping an independent copy of important information. We take reasonable measures to operate the Service, but cannot guarantee that content will never be lost, corrupted, inaccessible, overwritten or deleted. Causes may include software defects, service outages, interrupted uploads, device loss, account compromise or mistaken deletion.

Use Download your journals to request an export of retained, confirmed cloud content when available. Large exports may be split into independent ZIP files. You need adequate device space and a suitable connection. Preparation and downloading can fail, expire or need a retry, and should not be left until the last moment before a deletion deadline.

Exports contain your retained journals and their attached details, not unsaved local drafts or every account record. Confirm that downloaded files can be opened. Copies saved to Files or another provider are outside Journologue's App lock and control. You may contact us separately to exercise a broader information-access right.

We do not guarantee recovery after deletion or a device change. Advice to keep backups does not exclude our liability where we have breached a non-excludable duty or remedy.

12. Deletion and retention

You can delete an opened journal through its menu, subject to the confirmation shown. We may require a fresh sign-in or another proportionate ownership check for account deletion. Earned bookmarks do not revert merely because an individual journal is deleted, but they are removed with the account when account deletion is completed.

When you choose Delete in 30 days and complete the confirmation and any required identity check, the app confirms when your request has been accepted. Your account is then deactivated for a recovery period of 30 consecutive days from acceptance. During this period, you can sign in and choose Restore account to cancel the deletion request. Signing in alone does not cancel it. Restoring an account does not restart a trial or grant a paid subscription.

Unless you cancel the request during those 30 days, we automatically delete your account and its associated journals, recordings, transcripts, photos, profile and sign-in identity after the recovery period. Once final deletion is completed, the account cannot be restored. This recovery period applies to your account-deletion request, not to deletion of an individual journal. It does not override a requirement to erase information sooner under applicable law.

You can instead choose Delete permanently now. Once this request is accepted, access is closed and irreversible deletion begins without a recovery period. Processing and removal from all relevant systems can take time. If a request fails or has not been confirmed, do not assume deletion has been scheduled; check its status in the app or contact support.

Account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription. Billing and renewals may continue unless you cancel through your Apple subscription settings. An active subscription or automatic renewal does not cancel a pending account-deletion request.

Subscription or trial expiry is separate from requesting account deletion. The cloud-content retention periods below are part of these Terms and the Privacy Policy, not a separate agreement or notification preference. The app shows a deletion date only when automatic retention is enabled and billing has been verified.

After paid access ends, including any Apple billing grace period, cloud journals are retained for three calendar months. An account that has never subscribed has 30 consecutive days after its 14-day trial ends. Verified purchase history determines which period applies; uncertainty pauses cleanup rather than assigning the shorter trial period. Calendar-month deadlines use UTC, clamping to the final day if a month is shorter; the app shows the date in your local time. When this policy is first activated, existing accounts receive the full applicable period starting no earlier than activation.

Unless you subscribe or resubscribe before irreversible cleanup begins, we then remove cloud journals, recordings, transcripts, photos, related library information and any profile photo. Your sign-in account, username, Support ID, used-trial history, purchase ownership and earned bookmarks remain. Local drafts and copies saved to Files or elsewhere are not removed by this cleanup. We recheck billing before cleanup and pause when status is uncertain or a purchase is unresolved. Subscribing cannot recover deleted content or cancel a separate account-deletion request.

Request and save an export before the deletion date. An admitted export is protected until its displayed expiry, at most 72 hours beyond that date; repeated requests do not keep extending retention. You can prepare up to three fresh copies per UTC day. Failed preparation is not counted as a successful copy; downloading an existing available copy does not use that allowance. Contact support if a failure prevents you from keeping your information.

Retention information appears on Today and in Your account. If notifications are enabled, a never-subscribed user receives a push when their free trial ends and the 30-day retention window begins. Former subscribers receive a push when their three-month countdown begins, one calendar month before deletion and seven days before deletion. We also notify you when a requested download is ready. These are essential account notifications only. Push delivery is not guaranteed: check the date in Your account. We send no marketing, daily or retention reminder emails; account sign-in and verification emails remain separate.

Download anything you want to keep before requesting account deletion. A later subscription or new account cannot restore content already deleted.

After full account deletion is completed, you can create a new account with the same sign-in details. It starts empty, with a new 14-day trial beginning on the first saved journal. Restoring an account during its recovery period, or removal of cloud content after a subscription or trial ends, does not create a new account or restart its trial.

Account deletion may cancel pending exports or other operations. It does not erase copies you previously saved to a device or another service. Uninstalling the app or signing out does not itself request account deletion. The Privacy Policy explains temporary recovery copies and limited deletion, security and legal records that may remain; these do not provide continued library access after final deletion.

13. Memories, prompts and bookmarks

Prompts and suggested memories are optional aids to reflection, not advice or an assessment of your emotional condition. Selection uses available journal details and preferences and cannot know everything that may make a memory painful.

Even a memory associated with positive feelings can be upsetting later. You can disable suggestions or choose not to suggest a particular journal again. You can still find retained journals through deliberate browsing or search. If a feature is not helpful, stop using it and seek appropriate support outside the app.

Bookmarks are personal milestones, not a competition, currency, financial benefit or transferable right. Once earned, a bookmark is not removed merely because you delete a journal. It does not change your subscription or ownership rights.

14. Changes and support

Journologue is a small, independently operated service. We aim to help within our available resources, but do not offer round-the-clock support, a guaranteed response time, guaranteed fixes, or a service-level agreement unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.

We may update, replace, suspend or discontinue features for legitimate operational, safety or legal reasons. Where reasonably possible we will give notice of a material disruption and an opportunity to export affected retained content. Urgent security or legal action may require shorter notice. Applicable paid-service and consumer remedies still apply.

15. Rights we do not exclude

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or changes any right, guarantee, remedy or liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude, restrict or change. This includes mandatory consumer and privacy rights.

In particular, the exclusions and limits below do not apply to fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; death or personal injury caused by negligence where liability cannot be excluded; wilful misconduct or gross negligence where a limitation is prohibited; or any other non-excludable obligation or remedy.

If the law where you live gives you greater protection, that protection applies. References to use at your risk, service limitations, backups or third parties do not override this section.

16. Service warranties

Subject to section 15 and any express commitment we make to you, the Service is provided on an as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, satisfactory quality and non-infringement to the extent they can lawfully be disclaimed.

We do not warrant that the Service or a transcript will be error-free, uninterrupted, completely secure, available at a particular time, or capable of recovering every file; that a suggestion will suit your emotional needs; or that every defect will be corrected.

A general description, roadmap, example screen or support suggestion is not a guarantee of a particular outcome. Specific enforceable representations, statutory guarantees and remedies are not displaced by this paragraph.

17. Limits on liability

Subject always to section 15, and only to the extent permitted and reasonable under applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses; lost profits, revenue, business opportunities or goodwill; or loss or corruption of data to the extent such loss is indirect or consequential. We are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when the agreement was made.

Subject to the same protections, our total aggregate liability for claims arising out of the Service is limited to the greater of US$100 and the amount you paid for Journologue during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. This limit applies across related claims and legal theories, but not where applicable law prohibits it or requires a different remedy.

We are not responsible for a loss to the extent it is caused by your unlawful use, your failure to follow reasonable safety or security instructions, or events outside our reasonable control, unless applicable law places responsibility on us. A third-party failure does not automatically release us from our own non-excludable obligations.

You should take reasonable steps to avoid or reduce a loss, such as reporting an account compromise and retaining important copies where practical. This is not an obligation to waive a claim, pay for an unwanted service, or remedy our negligence at your expense.

These provisions allocate risk only within lawful limits. They do not guarantee that a claim cannot be brought, prevent you from reporting an issue to a regulator, or remove a remedy that a court or applicable law requires.

18. Unlawful use and third-party claims

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for reasonably foreseeable loss and reasonable costs we directly incur because you intentionally or negligently violate another person's rights through unlawful use of the Service.

Any obligation to compensate us is limited to loss caused by your own conduct. It does not cover our negligence, misconduct or breach, does not create an unlimited duty to indemnify us, and does not apply where prohibited for consumers or minors.

If a third-party claim arises, we will give appropriate notice and a reasonable opportunity to respond. We will not agree to a settlement that imposes a non-monetary obligation or admission on you without your consent, where you are legally entitled to give it.

19. App licence and third-party services

We and our licensors retain rights in the app, website, software, design and brand, excluding your content. Subject to the applicable licence and these Terms, you may use the Service for your own lawful personal journaling. No ownership of our software or brand is transferred to you.

For an app obtained through Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement governs the software licence unless a separate applicable custom licence is provided. These Terms additionally govern Journologue's cloud service and website and do not replace or contradict mandatory App Store usage rules.

Apple's platform and purchase terms and applicable third-party licences also apply to their respective services. We are responsible for Journologue and support we are required to provide; Apple is not undertaking to operate or support our cloud journaling service.

Links to independent services do not mean we control or endorse every aspect of them. Their availability, terms and privacy practices may differ. This does not reduce our responsibility for service providers acting on our behalf where law makes us responsible.

20. Suspension and ending the Service

You may stop using the Service at any time. To remove cloud information, use the deletion process; to stop subscription renewal, use Apple's cancellation controls.

We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address a material breach, fraud, security risk, unlawful activity, unpaid access or a binding legal requirement. Where appropriate and safe, we will explain the reason and give an opportunity to resolve it or request review. Urgent action may be taken without advance notice.

If we end the Service for reasons other than your material breach or an urgent legal or security restriction, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable, information about export of retained content and any remedy required for unused paid service. Suspension is not permission for arbitrary confiscation of paid benefits.

Ending the agreement does not remove accrued rights or obligations, mandatory remedies, or provisions that reasonably need to continue, including limited content-retention permissions, payment reconciliation, lawful liability limits and dispute provisions.

21. Questions, complaints and disputes

Please contact support@journologue.com with a description of the issue and, if available, your Support ID. Do not include sign-in credentials. We will try to resolve the issue fairly, but contacting support is not a condition that removes a legal remedy or delays an urgent claim.

Subject to mandatory protections, these Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections in your country of habitual residence or a right to bring a claim in a court available to you there.

These Terms do not impose mandatory arbitration, waive class or representative proceedings, shorten a statutory limitation period, or prevent complaints to competent authorities where those rights are available.

22. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms for legitimate changes to the Service, pricing arrangements, risks or legal requirements. The page will show the updated date and version. We will give appropriate notice of material changes before they take effect, except where an urgent legal or security reason requires otherwise.

Changes do not retrospectively remove rights relating to an existing claim. Where a change requires agreement or a statutory cancellation right, we will follow that process. If you do not accept a material change, you can stop using the affected Service, request export or deletion of retained content, and exercise any applicable cancellation or refund rights.

A change to the Privacy Policy does not itself authorise a new purpose requiring separate permission.

23. General provisions

These Terms, applicable offer terms and the relevant software licence form the agreement for their respective subjects. They do not exclude a representation or duty that cannot lawfully be excluded. No failure or delay in enforcing a provision is automatically a waiver.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply so far as lawful and workable. A court should not interpret an invalid clause to deprive you of mandatory protection.

You may not transfer your account or agreement without permission. We may transfer the Service and related agreement as part of a legitimate business reorganisation or transfer, provided applicable rights are preserved and appropriate notice is given. This does not permit selling your journals for advertising.

We are not liable for delay caused by events outside our reasonable control to the extent permitted by law, but will take reasonable steps to reduce disruption. This does not allow retaining payment where law requires a refund or other remedy.

The English text is the reference version unless applicable law requires a different interpretation or a legally effective local version. Headings assist navigation and do not limit the provisions.
